Our Story
A Family Business Built on the Belief That Gardens Change Lives.
For over 23 years, we've been designing and planting residential gardens across the region — one property at a time, with the same care we'd give our own.
Our Story
How It All Started.
Hanna Family Gardens began the way most good things do — quietly, and out of genuine love for the work. We were a young couple with a shared obsession: plants, soil, and the way a well-made garden can transform how a family feels about their home.
We started with a single neighborhood, a borrowed truck, and a reputation built entirely on word of mouth. Twenty-three years later, we still work the same way — personally, carefully, and with a deep respect for the land we're asked to tend.
We've never grown into a large company, and that's entirely by choice. Every project we take on is one we can give our full attention to. You'll work with us directly — the same people who design your garden are the ones who plant it.
The Team
The People Behind the Gardens.
Hanna Family Gardens is run by two people who have spent their entire careers in the soil.
Sarah Hanna
Garden Designer & Co-founder
Sarah has been designing residential gardens for over two decades. She trained in horticulture and landscape design, and has a particular passion for plant combinations — the way textures, colors, and forms work together across seasons. She leads every design process from initial consultation through final planting plan.

James Hanna
Landscape Contractor & Co-founder
James brings the designs to life. With a background in construction and horticulture, he oversees all installation work — from soil preparation and hardscape coordination to the final planting and handover. His attention to detail and commitment to doing things properly is what makes the finished gardens last.

What We Believe.
Gardens should serve the people who live in them.
A beautiful garden that doesn't fit your life is a failure. We design for how you actually use your outdoor space — not for how it looks in a photograph.
Honesty is the foundation of good work.
We tell you what will work and what won't. We give you realistic timelines and honest budgets. We don't oversell, and we don't cut corners.
Sustainability isn't optional.
Every garden we design works with local ecology — native plants, healthy soil, thoughtful water management. This isn't a selling point; it's just how we think gardens should be made.
The relationship matters as much as the result.
Many of our clients have been with us for years — calling us back for new projects, referring their neighbors, sending us photos of how their gardens have grown. That continuity is what we're most proud of.
Our Approach
We Listen Before We Design.
The most important part of any garden project happens before we draw a single line. We spend time on your property, in conversation with you, understanding how you live and what you love. Only then do we start designing. This isn't a process we rush — it's the reason our gardens feel right.
Ready to Start a Conversation?
Every garden we've ever made began with a simple conversation. Tell us about your space — we'd love to hear what you're imagining.
